Write down what the gate does before choosing hardware
A shopping checklist should start with whether the gate has one leaf or two and whether it opens inward or outward. Then document the gate construction and post arrangement. The same motor name can be sold in several packages, and a package that includes pull-to-open hardware may need another bracket set for outward opening.
This checklist records purchasing questions. It does not determine safe mounting geometry, approve gate strength or replace the installation manual. Gate operators can cause serious injury when a site or safety system is unsuitable. The required protection and installation details belong to the current manual and a qualified installer.
Manufacturer source ↗Manufacturer source ↗Manufacturer source ↗Separate bracket count from bracket suitability
For Ghost’s TSS1XP, the outward-opening shopping question is one additional push-to-open set; for TDS2XP it is two. The Mighty Mule MM571W manufacturer documentation points to the FM148 push-to-open bracket as a separate item. TOPENS A5S and AD5S already include push and pull brackets in their default packages.
That distinction affects what you buy, but it cannot approve the installation. A round post, masonry column or unusual hinge position may need more work than the standard kit hardware anticipates. Write down the site dimensions requested by the manual and have the installer confirm the mounting arrangement. Do not buy an arbitrary “universal” adapter just because a diagram looks similar.

Record the required battery voltage and capacity, whether batteries are actually included, and whether the package includes the enclosure and connection hardware you will use. A battery photograph beside an opener is not enough. Ghost XP packages here require a 12V battery. TOPENS solar-only configurations here call for a separately purchased 24V battery system, at least 12Ah as stated in their product documentation.
The MM571W current product page includes an FM150 12V battery and enclosure. The MM371W current page excludes its battery. Keep a copy of the exact offer’s included-items list so a mixed seller bundle or old listing does not silently change your plan. This is especially useful when the current product page and an older manual describe different packages.

Cable routing, solar panel location, battery enclosure placement, safety equipment and any post-specific mounting parts remain site questions. They are deliberately marked “confirm on site” in our tool. We do not fold them into a blanket “everything included” claim or set their cost to zero.
Accessory compatibility is another exact-model question. Do not rely on a generic keypad exclusion copied across old retailer listings. For example, Mighty Mule’s FM137 Rev. B manual explicitly describes wireless use with the MM371/MM372/MM571/MM572 family on page 6. That is evidence against a blanket incompatibility claim, not a guarantee for every controller revision or installation.

Use the comparison’s print view to carry the documented kit inventory into the conversation. Add the installation details and confirmed extra part numbers before ordering. Your next step is a resolved list of purchases, not simply a pile of possible accessories.
- Does the seller bundle exactly match the model and contents listed here?
- Which battery, enclosure and connecting parts are required for this power configuration?
- Are outward-opening brackets included, and will they suit the actual post geometry?
- What safety equipment, wiring and mounting work does this specific site need?
- Will the intended solar location and accessories meet the manufacturer’s charging requirements?
Turn the reading into a list.
Select two exact kits, mark whether outward-opening brackets matter, and print or share the result.
